POSTECH Ranked 1st in Times Higher Education 100 under 50 Rankings 2012
POSTECH led to the top of a global ranking list of 100 universities less than 50 years old, published in the inaugural issue of the magazine, Times Higher Education on May 31.
“POSTECH at just 26 years old has made staggering progress with the backing of significant private investment and strong political support,” an official of the magazine commented on a press release this morning.
POSTECH’s top position was followed by universities: École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland, the 2nd; Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the 3rd; the University of California, Irvine, the 4th; and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, the 5th.
Phil Baty, editor of the magazine said: “Postech, the world’s number one university under the age of 50, and KAIST, in 5th place, are clearly already world leaders – and it is extraordinary that they have reached such heights in a matter of decades, against global competitors who have had centuries to develop.”
