President Baik was selected as the 3rd Honorable Alumnus of Cornell University

POSTECH President Sunggi Baik was selected as the recipient of the third Honorable Korean Alumnus of Cornell University Award.

The Cornell Club of Korea, which is a Korean alumni association of Cornell University, announced that President Baik has been selected to receive the award this year and will be awarded at the year-end party that will take place at the Novotel Ambassador Gangnam in Seoul on December 11.

Along with having performed influential research the field of ceramic materials, President Baik has also contributed tremendously to the advancement of POSTECH, including achievements such as POSTECH entering the list of the world’s top 30 universities, for the first time for a Korean university. Considering such achievements in his research field and contributions to the advancement of higher education of Korea, he has been selected as the winner of the award this year.

In 2007, the Cornell Club of Korea established the Honorable Korean Alumnus of Cornell University Award in commemoration of the first visit by Dr. David Skorton, the president of Cornell University. The winners of the award are chosen under strict final screening by Cornell University.

President Baik has been also selected as the recipient of the 2010 Person of the Year Award (in the field of education advancement) by the Journalist Federation of Korea. The awards ceremony will be held on December 10 at the 63 City in Seoul.
