Professor Wonbin Hong Selected as IEEE Fellow
POSTECH professor Wonbin Hong (Department of Electrical Engineering) has been selected as a Fellow of the International Society of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world’s largest academic organization. He is the first Korean scholar to be named IEEE Fellow in the antennas category.
Professor Wonbin Hong received his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan and was with Samsung Electronics as a principal and senior engineer before joining POSTECH faculty in 2016. He has been selected as IEEE Fellow for his contribution to the development of millimeter-wave mobile and base station antennas.
Since 2020, Dr. Hong has been leading the way in millimeter-wave antenna technology as co-president of Kreemo, a start-up company in the field of millimeter-wave 5G and satellite antennas.
IEEE is the world’s largest academic society in the field of electricity, electronics and computers. IEEE Fellow is a distinction reserved for select IEEE members who have significantly contributed to the advancement in any of the IEEE fields of interest through their research accomplishment via a strict selection process. The number of Fellows selected each year is does not exceed 0.1% of the voting membership.
